AotW: Archangel Metatron

Meaning: “The Angel of the Presence” or “One who occupies the throne next to the divine throne”

Other Names: Mattatron; Enoch; Lesser YHVH

He is the twin brother (or twin flame) of Archangel Sandalphon. Some say he was incarnated as Enoch, one of two archangels who have been humans before (Archangel Sandalphon is the other). Archangel Metatron is God’s heavenly scribe, recording God’s words. His job is also to record everything that happens on Earth and keep the Akashic records, also known as the “Book of Life.” He is also known for his sacred geometry (note the Sacred Cube). There is a special place in his heart for children. When children and babies die, he takes them into his care and helps them as much as possible. He teaches the children on the other side.

He is often depicted with a scroll in his hand.

When he was Enoch, he walked with God and was no more, for he was taken by God. When he was taken by God, he was transformed into the Archangel Metatron. In Kabbalistic tradition, he holds a position at the top of the Tree of Life, passing the divine blueprint for creation to all levels below him. He is also thought to have led the children out of Israel. Some believe that he is the angel who stopped Abraham from sacrificing his son, Isaac.

Prayer:

Archangel Metatron, wise counselor and genuine friend of humanity,
I speak to you now to forge a connection with you,
A connection I hope to make stronger with each passing day.
I hope to know you better.
I hope to open my eyes, ears, and heart to your knowledge and wisdom.
I hope, with your help, to become the person I am meant to be.
Please know that it is my sincere desire to be of service to God and humanity
as I forge this connection,
And help me to understand how I may best serve God’s plan.
Thank you and bless you. And so it is. Amen.

  • “The words of the blessing of Enoch, wherewith he blessed the elect and righteous, who will be living in the day of tribulation, when all the wicked and godless are to be removed. And he took up his parable and said -Enoch a righteous man, whose eyes were opened by God, saw the vision of the Holy One in the heavens, which the angels showed me, and from them I heard everything, and from them I understood as I saw, but not for this generation, but for a remote one which is for to come. Concerning the elect I said, and took up my parable concerning them: The Holy Great One will come forth from His dwelling,” ~ Enoch 1:1-3
  • “Before these things Enoch was hidden, and no one of the children of men knew where he was hidden, and where he abode, and what had become of him. And his activities had to do with the Watchers, and his days were with the holy ones. And I Enoch was blessing the Lord of majesty and the King of the ages, and lo! the Watchers called me -Enoch the scribe- and said to me: ‘Enoch, thou scribe of righteousness, go, declare to the Watchers of the heaven who have left the high heaven, the holy eternal place, and have defiled themselves with women, and have done as the children of earth do, and have taken unto themselves wives: ‘Ye have wrought great destruction on the earth: And ye shall have no peace nor forgiveness of sin: and inasmuch as they delight themselves in their children, The murder of their beloved ones shall they see, and over the destruction of their children shall they lament, and shall make supplication unto eternity, but mercy and peace shall ye not attain.’ And Enoch went and said: Azazel, thou shalt have no peace: a severe sentence has gone forth against thee to put thee in bonds: And thou shalt not have toleration nor request granted to thee, because of the unrighteousness which thou hast taught, and because of all the works of godlessness and unrighteousness and sin which thou hast shown to men. Then I went and spoke to them all together, and they were all afraid, and fear and trembling seized them. And they besought me to draw up a petition for them that they might find forgiveness, and to read their petition in the presence of the Lord of heaven. For from thenceforward they could not speak (with Him) nor lift up their eyes to heaven for shame of their sins for which they had been condemned. Then I wrote out their petition, and the prayer in regard to their spirits and their deeds individually and in regard to their requests that they should have forgiveness and length. And I went off and sat down at the waters of Dan, in the land of Dan, to the south of the west of Hermon: I read their petition till I fell asleep. And behold a dream came to me, and visions fell down upon me, and I saw visions of chastisement, and a voice came bidding (me) I to tell it to the sons of heaven, and reprimand them. And when I awaked, I came unto them, and they were all sitting gathered together, weeping in Abelsjail, which is between Lebanon and Seneser, with their faces covered. And I recounted before them all the visions which I had seen in sleep, and I began to speak the words of righteousness, and to reprimand the heavenly Watchers.” ~ Enoch 12:1-13:10
  • “. . . And until then I had been prostrate on my face, trembling: and the Lord called me with His own mouth, and said to me: ‘ Come hither, Enoch, and hear my word.’ And one of the holy ones came to me and waked me, and He made me rise up and approach the door: and I bowed my face downwards. And He answered and said to me, and I heard His voice: ‘Fear not, Enoch, thou righteous man and scribe of righteousness: approach hither and hear my voice. And go, say to the Watchers of heaven, who have sent thee to intercede for them: “You should intercede” for men, and not men for you: Wherefore have ye left the high, holy, and eternal heaven, and lain with women, and defiled yourselves with the daughters of men and taken to yourselves wives, and done like the children of earth, and begotten giants (as your) sons? And though ye were holy, spiritual, living the eternal life, you have defiled yourselves with the blood of women, and have begotten (children) with the blood of flesh, and, as the children of men, have lusted after flesh and blood as those also do who die and perish. Therefore have I given them wives also that they might impregnate them, and beget children by them, that thus nothing might be wanting to them on earth. But you were formerly spiritual, living the eternal life, and immortal for all generations of the world. And therefore I have not appointed wives for you; for as for the spiritual ones of the heaven, in heaven is their dwelling. And now, the giants, who are produced from the spirits and flesh, shall be called evil spirits upon the earth, and on the earth shall be their dwelling. Evil spirits have proceeded from their bodies; because they are born from men and from the holy Watchers is their beginning and primal origin; they shall be evil spirits on earth, and evil spirits shall they be called. [As for the spirits of heaven, in heaven shall be their dwelling, but as for the spirits of the earth which were born upon the earth, on the earth shall be their dwelling.] And the spirits of the giants afflict, oppress, destroy, attack, do battle, and work destruction on the earth, and cause trouble: they take no food, but nevertheless hunger and thirst, and cause offences. And these spirits shall rise up against the children of men and against the women, because they have proceeded from them.” ~ Enoch 14:24-15:12
  • “. . . And I, Enoch, alone saw the vision, the ends of all things: and no man shall see as I have seen.” ~ Enoch 19:3
  • “I said: ‘For what sin are they bound, and on what account have they been cast in hither?’ Then said Uriel, one of the holy angels, who was with me, and was chief over them, and said: ‘Enoch, why dost thou ask, and why art thou eager for the truth? These are of the number of the stars of heaven, which have transgressed the commandment of the Lord, and are bound here till ten thousand years, the time entailed by their sins, are consummated.’ And from thence I went to another place, which was still more horrible than the former, and I saw a horrible thing: a great fire there which burnt and blazed, and the place was cleft as far as the abyss, being full of great descending columns of fire: neither its extent or magnitude could I see, nor could I conjecture. Then I said: ‘How fearful is the place and how terrible to look upon!’ Then Uriel answered me, one of the holy angels who was with me, and said unto me: ‘Enoch, why hast thou such fear and affright?’ And I answered: ‘Because of this fearful place, and because of the spectacle of the pain.’ And he said unto me: ‘This place is the prison of the angels, and here they will be imprisoned for ever.’” ~ Enoch 21:5-10
  • “And he said unto me: ‘Enoch, why dost thou ask me regarding the fragrance of the tree, and why dost thou wish to learn the truth?’ . . .” ~ Enoch 25:1-2
  • “The second vision which he saw, the vision of wisdom -which Enoch the son of Jared, the son of Mahalalel, the son of Cainan, the son of Enos, the son of Seth, the son of Adam, saw. And this is the beginning of the words of wisdom which I lifted up my voice to speak and say to those which dwell on earth: Hear, ye men of old time, and see, ye that come after, the words of the Holy One which I will speak before the Lord of Spirits. It were better to declare (them only) to the men of old time, but even from those that come after we will not withhold the beginning of wisdom. Till the present day such wisdom has never been given by the Lord of Spirits as I have received according to my insight, according to the good pleasure of the Lord of Spirits by whom the lot of eternal life has been given to me. Now three Parables were imparted to me, and I lifted up my voice and recounted them to those that dwell on the earth.” ~ Enoch 37:1-5
  • “And it shall come to pass in those days that elect and holy children will descend from the high heaven, and their seed will become one with the children of men. And in those days Enoch received books of zeal and wrath, and books of disquiet and expulsion.” ~ Enoch 39:1-2
  • “In the year 500, in the seventh month, on the fourteenth day of the month in the life of Enoch. In that Parable I saw how a mighty quaking made the heaven of heavens to quake, and the host of the Most High, and the angels, a thousand thousands and ten thousand times ten thousand, were disquieted with a great disquiet. And the Head of Days sat on the throne of His glory, and the angels and the righteous stood around Him.” ~ Enoch 60:1-2
  • “And in those days Noah saw the earth that it had sunk down and its destruction was nigh. And he arose from thence and went to the ends of the earth, and cried aloud to his grandfather Enoch: and Noah said three times with an embittered voice: Hear me, hear me, hear me. And I said unto him: Tell me what it is that is falling out on the earth that the earth is in such evil plight and shaken, lest perchance I shall perish with it ? And thereupon there was a great commotion , on the earth, and a voice was heard from heaven, and I fell on my face. And Enoch my grandfather came and stood by me, and said unto me: Why hast thou cried unto me with a bitter cry and weeping And a command has gone forth from the presence of the Lord concerning those who dwell on the earth that their ruin is accomplished because they have learnt all the secrets of the angels, and all the violence of the Satans, and all their powers -the most secret ones- and all the power of those who practice sorcery, and the power of witchcraft, and the power of those who make molten images for the whole earth: And how silver is produced from the dust of the earth, and how soft metal originates in the earth. For lead and tin are not produced from the earth like the first: it is a fountain that produces them, and an angel stands therein, and that angel is pre-eminent. And after that my grandfather Enoch took hold of me by my hand and raised me up, and said unto me: Go, for I have asked the Lord of Spirits as touching this commotion on the earth. And He said unto me: ” Because of their unrighteousness their judgement has been determined upon and shall not be withheld by Me for ever. Because of the sorceries which they have searched out and learnt, the earth and those who dwell upon it shall be destroyed.” And these-they have no place of repentance for ever, because they have shown them what was hidden, and they are the damned: but as for thee, my son, the Lord of Spirits knows that thou art pure, and guiltless of this reproach concerning the secrets. And He has destined thy name to be among the holy, And will preserve thee amongst those who dwell on the earth, And has destined thy righteous seed both for kingship and for great honours, And from thy seed shall proceed a fountain of the righteous and holy without number for ever. And after that he showed me the angels of punishment who are prepared to come and let loose all the powers of the waters which are beneath in the earth in order to bring judgement and destruction on all who [abide and] dwell on the earth. And the Lord of Spirits gave commandment to the angels who were going forth, that they should not cause the waters to rise but should hold them in check; for those angels were over the powers of the waters. And I went away from the presence of Enoch.” ~ Enoch 65:1-66:3
  • “And after that my grandfather Enoch gave me the teaching of all the secrets in the book in the Parables which had been given to him, and he put them together for me in the words of the book of the Parables.” ~ Enoch 68:1-2
  • “And these blessings which went forth out of my mouth were well pleasing before that Head of Days. And that Head of Days came with Michael and Gabriel, Raphael and Phanuel, thousands and ten thousands of angels without number. [Lost passage wherein the Son of Man was described as accompanying the Head of Days, and Enoch asked one of the angels (as in xlvi. 3) concerning the Son of Man as to who he was.] And he (i.e. the angel) came to me and greeted me with His voice, and said unto me This is the Son of Man who is born unto righteousness, And righteousness abides over him, And the righteousness of the Head of Days forsakes him not.” ~ Enoch 71:12-14
  • “And in those days the angel Uriel answered and said to me: Behold, I have shown thee everything, Enoch, and I have revealed everything to thee that thou shouldst see this sun and this moon, and the leaders of the stars of the heaven and all those who turn them, their tasks and times and departures.” ~ Enoch 80:1

AotW: Archangel Sandalphon

Meaning: “Co-Brother” or “One who wears sandals before the Almighty”

Other Names: Sandolphon; Sandolfon; Elijah, the prophet; Elias

He is one of two archangels who were once humans (the other being Metatron). Elijah, the prophet of Israel, was his identity during his earthly incarnation. Archangel Sandalphon is also associated with music. He can help your words and actions to be gentle, yet powerful. He is the angel of prayer. Part of his message is that all prayers are of equal importance and that there are plenty of angels to help everyone on Earth. Each prayer is heard and answered, even if the answers don’t come in the way we expect. Another thing he does is help you appreciate all of the miracles and victories – of every size – in your life. Sandalphon is the angel of music. He also protects children.

It is said that he is the tallest of all of the angels. He is also described as being fiery in appearance, or made of pure energy. This would make it difficult to look upon him.

It is believed that when Elijah was carried up to heaven in a burning chariot by a whirlwind (while still alive), this was when he became Sandalphon. He is said to make a necklace of all of the prayers and puts it around God’s neck. Another thing he does is help you appreciate all of the miracles and victories – of every size – in your life. Some people maintain that Archangel Sandalphon determines the sex of an embryo.

Prayer:

Blessed Sandalphon, I ask your assistance in opening me up to my Divine Plan. Be with me; intercede on my behalf, so that I may _____________. Help me to open to my own heart and wisdom and to be open to Divine guidance, to live my best life here on Earth and to know and fulfill my mission here gently and with Grace. Knowing and living my highest purpose fully now. Thank you and so it is.

And she went and did according to the saying of Elijah: and she, and he, and her house, did eat many days. And the barrel of meal wasted not, neither did the cruse of oil fail, according to the word of the Lord, which he spake by Elijah. And it came to pass after these things, that the son of the woman, the mistress of the house, fell sick; and his sickness was so sore, that there was no breath left in him. Then answered Peter, and said unto Jesus, Lord, it is good for us to be here: if thou wilt, let us make here three tabernacles; one for thee, and one for Moses, and one for Elias. AotW: Archangel Uriel

Meaning: “Light of God” or “Fire of God”

Other Names: Uri’el; Urael; St. Uriel, the Archangel; Auriel; Oriel

He helps enlighten our minds with Divine inspiration. You know it’s divine when it is (possibly repetitive) positive, loving and helpful. Archangel Uriel purifies our mental and emotional understanding and transmutes lower engergies into enlightened, spiritual understanding. In a way, he shows us the silver lining in every situation. The archangel is also considered an angel of presence. He is one of the seven archangels that stand at the throne of God and one of the four major archangels that serve humanity. Uriel was sent by God to answer Esdras’ questions. He also supervises the fairies and sprites who inhabit the four elementals (earth, air, fire, and water).

Uriel is often shown with an open hand holding a flame. This flame is the flame of Love.

Legend tells us the Uriel stands at the gates of Eden with a fiery sword. It also says that he holds the key to unconditional forgiveness in every area of our lives. He has been placed in charge of Tartarus (a.k.a. Hades). Uriel is also said to be the one who warned Noah of the Great Flood.

Prayer:
O Holy Angel St. Uriel, whose name means “God is my Light”
We pray that you will guide our thoughts and actions with the Light of  Christ.
We ask that you guard and protect us against all the attacks of Satan
Who has tempted man since the Garden of Eden.
May you and all the choirs of Angels intercede for us before the Most Holy Trinity
That we may receive mercy and eternal life in heaven, We ask this through Christ our Lord,
Amen.

Raphael was also the one who gave Noah, after the flood, a medical book said to have been the famous The Book of the Angel Raziel. He also bound the demon Azazel in the desert of Egypt. According to the hadith, Raphael is supposed to signal the coming of Judgment Day.

and ask you for your healing strength in answer to my prayer.

Please take away the sadness, take away the pain, hold me in your healing wings and make me whole again.

AotW: Archangel Gabriel

Meaning: “God is my strength”

Other Names: St. Gabriel, the Archangel; Jibra’il

Archangel Gabriel is the main messenger of God. She gives strenght and courage to people. She also helps them with creativity and communication. A few more things she is helpful with are fertility, pregnancy, and adopting a child. Gabriel is one of only two angels mentioned in the Bible by name. She is best known for telling the mothers of Jesus and John the Baptist that they would be born. She also dictated the Qur’an to Muhammad.

Gabriel is often shown holding a trumpet, as legend says she will on Judgement Day. In Renaissance art, Gabriel is usually shown in the Anunciation. She is also often shown with Archangel Michael.

Legend says that Gabriel selects the souls from heaven to be born into the material world and spends the nine months, as the fetus is developing, informing the new person of what he or she will need to know on Earth. Then she silences the child before birth by pressing her finger onto the child’s lips, thus producing the cleft below a person’s nose. Another legend says that Gabriel will blow the horn announcing the second coming of Jesus Christ.

Prayer:

Blessed Saint Gabriel, Archangel
We beseech you to intercede for us at the throne of divine mercy:
As you announced the mystery of the Incarnation to Mary,
so through your prayers
may we receive strength of faith and courage of spirit,
and thus find favor with God
and redemption through Christ Our Lord.
May we sing the praise of God our Savior
with the angels and saints in heaven
forever and ever.
Amen.

  • “Even as in the ‘Beginning that hath no beginnings’ the term ‘last’ is truly applicable unto Him who is the Educator of the visible and of the invisible, in like manner, are the terms ‘first’ and ‘last’ applicable unto His Manifestations. They are at the same time the Exponents of both the ‘first’ and the ‘last.’ Whilst established upon the seat of the ‘first,’ they occupy the throne of the ‘last.’ Were a discerning eye to be found, it will readily perceive that the exponents of the ‘first’ and the ‘last,’ of the ‘manifest’ and the ‘hidden,’ of the ‘beginning’ and the ‘seal’ are none other than these holy Beings, these Essences of Detachment, these divine Souls. And wert thou to soar in the holy realm of ‘God was alone, there was none else besides Him,’ thou wilt find in that Court all these names utterly non-existent and completely forgotten. Then will thine eyes no longer be obscured by these veils, these terms, and allusions. How ethereal and lofty is this station, unto which even Gabriel, unshepherded, can never attain, and the Bird of Heaven, unassisted, can never reach!” ~ The Kitáb-i-Íqán (page 163-164, verse 174)
  • “Yea, in the writings and utterances of the Mirrors reflecting the sun of the Muḥammadan Dispensation mention hath been made of ‘Modification by the exalted beings’ and ‘alteration by the disdainful.’ Such passages, however, refer only to particular cases. Among them is the story of Ibn-i-Suríyá. When the people of Khaybar asked the focal center of the Muḥammadan Revelation concerning the penalty of adultery committed between a married man and a married woman, Muḥammad answered and said: ‘The law of God is death by stoning.’ Whereupon they protested saying: ‘No such law hath been revealed in the Pentateuch.’ Muḥammad answered and said: ‘Whom do ye regard among your rabbis as being a recognized authority and having a sure knowledge of the truth?’ They agreed upon Ibn-i-Suríyá. Thereupon Muḥammad summoned him and said: ‘I adjure thee by God Who clove the sea for you, caused manna to descend upon you, and the cloud to overshadow you, Who delivered you from Pharaoh and his people, and exalted you above all human beings, to tell us what Moses hath decreed concerning adultery between a married man and a married woman.’ He made reply: ‘O Muḥammad! death by stoning is the law.’ Muḥammad observed: ‘Why is it then that this law is annulled and hath ceased to operate among the Jews?’ He answered and said: ‘When Nebuchadnezzar delivered Jerusalem to the flames, and put the Jews to death, only a few survived. The divines of that age, considering the extremely limited number of the Jews, and the multitude of the Amalekites, took counsel together, and came to the conclusion that were they to enforce the law of the Pentateuch, every survivor who hath been delivered from the hand of Nebuchadnezzar would have to be put to death according to the verdict of the Book. Owing to such considerations, they totally repealed the penalty of death.’ Meanwhile Gabriel inspired Muḥammad’s illumined heart with these words: ‘They pervert the text of the Word of God.'” ~ The Kitáb-i-Íqán (page 84-86, verse 92)
  • “We shall cite in this connection only one verse of that Book. Shouldst thou observe it with a discerning eye, thou wilt, all the remaining days of thy life, lament and bewail the injury of Muḥammad, that wronged and oppressed Messenger of God. That verse was revealed at a time when Muḥammad languished weary and sorrowful beneath the weight of the opposition of the people, and of their unceasing torture. In the midst of His agony, the Voice of Gabriel, calling from the Sadratu’l-Muntahá, was heard saying: ‘But if their opposition be grievous to Thee—if Thou canst, seek out an opening into the earth or a ladder into heaven.’ The implication of this utterance is that His case had no remedy, that they would not withhold their hands from Him unless He should hide Himself beneath the depths of the earth, or take His flight unto heaven.” ~ The Kitáb-i-Íqán (page 109-110, verse 116)
  • “Nay, by ‘trumpet’ is meant the trumpet-call of Muḥammad’s Revelation, which was sounded in the heart of the universe, and by ‘resurrection’ is meant His own rise to proclaim the Cause of God. He bade the erring and wayward arise and speed out of the sepulchres of their bodies, arrayed them with the beauteous robe of faith, and quickened them with the breath of a new and wondrous life. Thus at the hour when Muḥammad, that divine Beauty, purposed to unveil one of the mysteries hidden in the symbolic terms ‘resurrection,’ ‘judgment,’ ‘paradise,’ and ‘hell,’ Gabriel, the Voice of Inspiration, was heard saying: ‘Erelong will they wag their heads at Thee, and say, ‘When shall this be?’ Say: ‘Perchance it is nigh.’’ The implications of this verse alone suffice the peoples of the world, were they to ponder it in their hearts.” ~ The Kitáb-i-Íqán (page 116-117, verse 123)

Angel of the Week (AotW): Archangel Michael

Meaning: “Who is like God”

Other Names: St. Michael, the Archangel; Mikhail; Mikael

Archangel Michael was the first angel created by God. He is also the patron of policemen. He leads the heavenly angels. He defends our souls and God. He is the great prince charged to defend the people. Michael is one of the two only angels mentioned by name in the Bible. One of the things he can be called upon for is to clear, cut, and remove negative energies. He can be called upon to cut the etheric cords of fear and negativity.

He is often depicted with winged and with an unsheathed sword. In the Renaissance period, he was shown as young, strong and handsome. He was shown wearing armor and was equipped with a sword, shield and spear. His wings are generally conspicuous and very grand. He is also seen holding the scales of justice. In Muslim lore, Michael’s wings are said to be “the color of green emerald” and he is covered with “Saffron hairs, each of them containing a million faces and mouths and as many tongues which, in a million dialects, implore the pardon of Allah.”

Legend tells that the cherubim were formed from the tears that Michael shed over the sins of the faithful.

Prayer:

St. Michael the Archangel,
defend me from battle;
Be my safeguard
against the malice and snares
of the negative seen or unseen energy forces.

Rebuke the negative energy forces oh God
I humbly beseech you,
and do thou oh prince of the heavenly host,
by the Divine Power of God
thrust into the darkness,
all the negative seen and unseen energy forces,
and all of the ugly spirits who wander about the world
seeking the ruination of souls.

In Jesus Christ’s name I pray,
who lives and reigns with the Father and the Holy Spirit
One God
forever and ever.

Amen.

And on that day Michael answered Raphael and said: The power of the spirit transports and makes me to tremble because of the severity of the judgement of the secrets, the judgement of the angels: who can endure the severe judgement which has been executed, and before which they melt away ? And Michael answered again, and said to Raphael: Who is he whose heart is not softened concerning it, and whose reins are not troubled by this word of judgement (that) has gone forth upon them because of those who have thus led them out ? And it came to pass when he stood before the Lord of Spirits, Michael said thus to Raphael: I will not take their part under the eye of the Lord; for the Lord of Spirits has been angry with them because they do as if they were the Lord.
