  3. I loved your post about Bilibical references to animal spirit. While my husband was serving as the pastor of a small church, he conducted regular Blessing of the Animals services as a testament to the value God places on the animal spirit. Thanks for your words of wisdom!

    • You’re welcome. I have heard very little about blessing animals and would love to learn more. I believe they have souls and deserve to be treated as creations of God.

      • There is an entire liturgy for it, including scripture and song. In our area, which is fairly rural, small animals come into the church and partake in the entire service. Larger animals can be brought to the outside of the church and blessed after the regular service, or people can bring a photo or other memento to have blessed in their stead. Not all churches do it, but look for a service in the early part of October. Usually they are held at that time in conjunction with St. Francis of Assisi Day.
