Have you ever stepped in dog poop? Your immediate feeling is disgust and the why-did-this-happen-to-me feeling. Then, you proceed to remove the excrement from your shoe. Yet, there is a silver lining, so says a superstition. It is said that unexpectedly/unintentionally stepping in dog poop is lucky. At first glance, you wouldn’t think any good could come from stepping in a dog’s number two (excrement), but there may be good from it. It may have prevented you from being in an accident, helped win some money, given you a new pair of shoes, or given you luck. Maybe something as simple [and disgusting] as this could be applied to other mishaps in our lives.
You will always find something unexpected that is negative. What we tend to not realize at that moment is that it is either doing something good for us right then, or it will be doing something good soon. It also goes with that proverb:
Every cloud has a silver lining.
No matter what negative thing happens to you today, find the silver lining.
